This weekend we hosted the annual OW v The School Winter Sports Matches, with OWs returning to compete in netball and football.

Netball: A fantastic performance from the OWs saw them take the win, defeating the School 33–25. Thank you to current students and staff who stepped in to support the team.
Match Report by Jessica Costello – Head of Netball
“On Saturday 21st March, the 1st VII faced the OWs in what proved to be a fitting end to the season for the 1st team. The match was competitive from the outset, with both sides demonstrating strong play and commitment throughout. Despite a determined performance, the OWs secured the win. Following the game, players and supporter enjoyed refreshments together, taking full advantage of the only sunny day so far this year, which provided a perfect setting to conclude the season.”

Football: The School claimed victory this year with a strong 3–1 result against the OWs.
Match Report by Jonathan Dean – Head of Football
“The OW fixture is always a great occasion. It is good to see lads who left at the end of last year, all the way through to those who left school at the turn of the century. The game was played in a fantastic spirit, with Harry H (13 Cr) our normal goalkeeper scoring the crucial goal on his first outfield appearance since Year 4.
This was the final fixture of the term, and for many their final football fixture in the Wellingborough School Colours. The Year 13 boys pictured have made a total of 237 appearances for the 1st XI alone - a sterling effort.
We look forward to doing it all again in 12 months’ time.”

A huge thank you to all OWs who joined us, as well as our pupils, staff, supporters, and of course our brilliant catering and grounds teams who help make these events possible.

Our next OW v The School fixtures will take place on Friday 19th June, when OWs will once again take on current students in Hockey and Cricket. If you’re interested in taking part, please contact [email protected].
